Good lord. Has it really been more than a year since I updated this? I suppose I should update all of you on what's been going on.
2014 was a pretty rough year for a number of reasons, not least of which because I began experiencing chronic, daily back pain around June. Seven months later, after much bureaucratic delay and a bout or two of medical incompetence, I finally have a diagnosis. Turns out I have psoriatic arthritis. The good news is there are treatments for it. Bad news is there's no cure, and proper treatment requires getting into a rheumatologist, which takes about three months. Right now I'm in a holding pattern until that happens, and haven't been as productive as I'd have liked with my DA. Chronic pain is a bitch like that. I wouldn't recommend it. In other news:
• I have a new camera! As of my birthday, I traded in my T2i for a sexy, full-frame Canon 6D. Epic thanks to my wife Meg, my father-in law Jeff, and my parents for making it happen. I even picked up a new lense to go with it! My default is now a Canon 24-105mm f/4L USM. It's amazing, and between that and the 6D it's like having night vision. Can't even explain just how much better this setup is for low-light shooting. Jeff also tinkered with my 10-22mm wide angle and got it to fit to a full-frame body, so now I can take crazy ultra-wide images without needing an actual fish-eye. Not like I'm gonna go nuts with that or anything...
• In a continued fit of badassery, Meg then decided we needed to go to Canada for Thanksgiving. So I totally got to see Banff, Calgary, the Canadian Rockies, and take my new 6D for a spin. Pictures are currently being processed and will be forthcoming!
• Australia looms! Meg and I have been saving diligently, and are hopefully nearing the point where we'll be able to plot a more specific timeline to move to Melbourne. I can't wait.
