I opened my inbox this week to discover some pretty fantastic news: one of my photos is going to be featured in this year's CommArts Photography Annual!
It'll be out this July/August, and you should look for this picture under the Unpublished section:

No idea why that's exciting? Read this, it'll do a good job of explaining why I'm basically peeing my pants with happy: [link]
I'm still not quite sure how that happened. I remember opening my first photography annual back in uni and feeling completely unqualified to even open its pages, let alone submit something. I always assumed that being featured was something that happens after a long and storied career, so I'm not quite sure what to do with myself at the moment. Set some new professional goals I guess?
In any case, a big thanks to everyone here who's commented, faved, poked, proded, critiqued and otherwise pushed me along over the years, because apparently it got me somewhere! Also massive props to my wife Meghan, for indulging my habit of making us half an hour late to everything because something looked pretty on the way.
Which, for the record, is exactly how that picture was taken. We just ended up at the Space Needle on a whim because we were killing time before meeting some friends, and I spied some odd art/architecture on the ground that definitely needed to be photographed at an angle, because really, have you met me? And just like that, I apparently have something in CommArts. Life is awesome.
